CTR is a non-university industry-oriented research and development centre in the south of Austria focusing on sensors, optics and microsystems technology.

KAI, centre of expertise for automotive and industrial electronics, carries out assignments which combine the theoretical and practical elements of a variety of disciplines. Here, people with different technical backgrounds come together to find new solutions.
KAI was founded on 9th January 2006 as an industrial centre of expertise for our partner companies Infineon Technologies Austria AG, EPCOS OHG, Flextronics GmbH and MAGNA Powertrain AG & Co KG. KAI receives investments from the Federal government in its capacity as a member of the centres of expertise programme.

KAI, centre of expertise for automotive and industrial electronics, mainly deals with electronic problems regarding the reliability of electronic systems. Work at the centre also focuses on the following fields:

  • Coupled thermic and electric effects
  • New materials and processes
  • Design and system simulation
  • Cost-effective housing technology
  • System integration
  • Technologies and concepts for quality saving ("zero effect")

KAI’s duties and responsibilities are project-oriented and relate to the fields of innovative and competitive research. These are multidisciplinary and include semiconductors, material science, dependence and system integration. KAI is integrating the expertise of its university partners to develop solutions in its chosen areas.
